Enjoy the best of the North - Glamping Experiences

North Devon features dramatic coastlines, wild open moorland, sweeping valleys and beautiful sandy beaches which are perfect for swimming and surfing. If that’s not enough, North Devon also offers cycle trails, zoos, farm attractions, cliff railways and the stunning Lundy Island. With so much to choose from, glamping in North Devon is the ideal family holiday. Let’s take a look at some of the very best that Devon has to offer for families and children of all ages.

  • Beaches: What’s a holiday without a trip to the beach? Boasting some of Britains best beaches, clean, safe, and gorgeous, the beaches in North Devon are a family must. At Woolacombe, you can stroll down the three miles of perfect sands and marvel at the reliable Atlantic ocean swells. Children aged 8 and above can take surfing lessons – yes, even your parents can discover your inner surf dudes with family lessons – and younger kids can try the boogie boards.
  • More Beaches: For a more relaxed day at the beach, it’s well worth visiting Tunnels Beaches at Ilfracombe. The Victorian tidal pools date back to 1823. You can explore the tunnels that were carved into the rock to trap the tidal sea water for bathing. All across the North Devon coastline, you will find many beaches and coves with crystal clear water, all waiting for you to discover them.
  • Cycling and Walking: North Devon features many cycle trails, of varying terrain and difficulty. Don’t have your own bikes? Not a problem! There are plenty of places in the local area from which to hire bikes and all the gear for the family. Cycle along the coastlines or across moorland, or even cycle through Exmoor National Park. The Tarka Trail is a traffic-free route, perfect for families with little ones just finding their confidence on their bicycle. On this route, you can see the mudflats on the banks of the river Taw and watch the wildfowl in their natural habitat.
  • Wildlife and Farms: Are you a family of animal lovers? If so, then North Devon has some of the best attractions for you. With zoos, working farms and even a sheep-themed park, you and your family will be able to be at one with the animals. Visit The Big Sheep in Bideford and go on a farm safari, see the sheep races and watch border collies rounding up ducks (and sheep of course!). Alternatively, visit one of the many zoos and aquariums in North Devon for a more exotic animal adventure. To truly immerse yourself in the wild side of North Devon, take a trip over to Lundy Island where the wildlife outnumbers the humans! Puffins, wild deer and hundreds of seabirds await.
